Council of EU completes EU-Ukraine Association Agreement ratification

The Council of the European Union on Tuesday completed the process of the ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union and the sides will coordinate the ways to ensure the most effective and rapid achievement of the goals of this Agreement at the Ukraine-EU summit on Wednesday, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said.

"Tomorrow, we will coordinate at the summit with the EU leaders in Kyiv the ways to ensure the most effective and rapid achievement of the goal stated in the Agreement and move to a new stage of our partnership," Poroshenko said on Facebook on Tuesday.

The Ukrainian president also said that "a qualitatively new stage of our path to the European Union" will start from September 1, 2017.

This is a new stage of "profound and comprehensive reforms that will require maximum efforts and uniting all branches of the Ukrainian government, business, and civic society to build a better European future for all the Ukrainian people." "And the European Union and the entire civilized world will help us along the way," Poroshenko said.

"The association agreement was one of the key demands and expectations of the Euromaidan," he said. "And I am happy that we were able to collectively achieve it. And the Kremlin, which mobilized all its resources against the association agreement, cynically violated international law, and started the aggression against Ukraine, has suffered another defeat. I am convinced that we are going to win. Ukraine is surely going to enter into the family of European nations,-both into the EU and NATO," Poroshenko said.
