M.E.Doc software installed at some 1 million computers – software developer CEO

The tax reporting software M.E.Doc has been installed on some 1 million computers, CEO of Intellect-Service LLC (Kyiv), the developer of the software, Olesia Bilousova has said.

At a roundtable in Kyiv on Wednesday she advised clients to be more attentive to the computers that were not affected by the virus, as they could be infected.

Bilousova said that it is important to issue the software upgrade that would lift holes for the virus.

As reported, the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine at present has refused using the most popular tax report software on the market – M.E.Doc. The National Police of Ukraine's cyber police unit said the software was used in a massive cyber attack by its developer.

The developer of M.E.Doc software which since June 27 denied the use of the software in the cyber attack, on July 5 admitted that the unprecedented hacking of the software occurred and the malware was added to the software update package.

According to a report on the Facebook page, the developer created the update which removes threats for users, although during a raid of the police on July 4 the company's servers were seized for analysis.
