Criminal responsibility will follow if ex-owners of PrivatBank fail to fulfill obligations

If the obligations of the former shareholders of PrivatBank (Kyiv) are not fulfilled, criminal responsibility for non-compliance with the law will follow, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has said.

"If the obligations are fulfilled, there will be corresponding decisions on them, if they are not fulfilled, and the National Bank witnesses this, then criminal responsibility for non-observance of the law will follow," he said on the air of ICTV Channel.

At the same time, the prime minister stated PrivatBank is stable.

According to him, Oleksandr Shlapak who headed the bank after nationalization initially warned he holds the post temporarily for its stabilization.

"He has done his job. He has resigned, moreover, the prime minister, it is not the government's job to appoint the head anymore, this is the prerogative of the independent supervisory board. The supervisory board will consider this statement and will make a decision. I think Oleksandr Shlapak is a very highly qualified, very honest and professional manager," Groysman said.
