Three Ostchem plants resume production of mineral fertilizers

Cherkasy Azot, Rivneazot and Severodonetsk Azot, part of Ostchem Group, have resumed production of fertilizers after a forced, more than three-month downtime, the press service of Group DF has said.

According to the press service, Cherkasy Azot has already launched start-up operations and plans by June 20 to bring the capacity of the three main workshops - carbamide, ammonium nitrate and carbamide-ammonium nitrate - to 100%. Rivneazot and Severodonetsk Azot are starting preparations for the commissioning of works necessary to start production.

"The work of all the group's chemical plants will be primarily aimed at satisfying the demand of Ukrainian agrarians. We estimate consumption in the domestic market during the autumn planting season at about 1.2 million tonnes of nitrogen fertilizers. The current total production capacity of Cherkasy Azot, Rivneazot and Severodonetsk Azot is about 350,000 tonnes of fertilizers per month, which is fully enough to meet the needs of Ukrainian farmers for the autumn sowing season in 2017," the report said.
