Production, propaganda of St. George's ribbons banned in Ukraine from June 15

The Ukrainian law on changes to the Ukrainian Code of Administrative Violations regarding the ban on the production and propaganda of St. George's (Guard) ribbon was published in the parliamentary newspaper Holos Ukrainy on Wednesday.

Thus, the law will take effect on June 15.

The law was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on May 16. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed it on June 12.

The law adds to the Ukrainian Code of Administrative Violations a new article introducing liability for the production and propaganda of St. George's ribbons.

According to the document, public use, demonstration, or wearing of St. George's ribbons or their images are punishable by a fine in an amount of 50 to 150 tax deductible minimal revenues of citizens with the confiscation of St. George's ribbons and objects bearing their image.
