Macro-financial aid of EUR 600 million from the European Union will be transferred to Ukraine's accounts next week, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said.

"Following a meeting with Jean-Claude Juncker [the President of the European Commission] and the European commissioners, I am very pleased to inform you that next week, from April 3 to April 7, Ukraine is likely to receive a EUR 600 million tranche of macro-financial assistance," Poroshenko told journalists after the meeting within the EPP summit in St. Julian's in Malta.

In addition, he said on Monday, April 3 a meeting of the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will take place, during which the decision on granting Ukraine a tranche of $1 billion will be made.

"This will significantly strengthen the country's forex reserves and the budget stability of the state," Poroshenko said.
