Wage arrears in Ukraine 4.6% up in Feb

The total amount of wage arrears in Ukraine in February 2017 increased by 4.6% and as of March 1, 2017 amounted to UAH 1.995 billion, the State Statistics Service has said.

According to its data, wage arrears at economically active enterprises in February rose by 8.8% and as of March 1, 2017 amounted to UAH 946.9 million.

According to the service, the increase in wage arrears in the past month was recorded in Rivne (three times), Khmelnytsky (68.3%), Cherkasy (44%), Luhansk (14.2%), Zaporizhia (5.9%), Ivano-Frankivsk (5.8%), Dnipropetrovsk (5.6%), Zakarpattia regions (4.2%) and Kyiv (12.3%).

At the same time, wage arrears in February declined in Chernivtsi (67.2%), Ternopil (54.5%), Volyn (42%), Poltava (8.1%), Sumy (4.7%), Kherson (4.6%), Chernihiv (3.4%) and Lviv regions (3%).

By early March, the bulk of wage arrears at economically active enterprises accounted for industry (75.1%), professional, scientific and technical activities (9.7%). At the same time, more than half of the debt was generated in Donetsk (27%), Luhansk (15.2%), and Kharkiv regions (10%).
