Court arrests Kyiv Metropoliten accounts under lawsuit of Ukrrosleasing

Kyiv City Council deputies on March 23 decided to appeal to the president of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada, the Cabinet of Ministers, the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) with the request to consider the issue of debts of Kyiv Metropoliten at a NSDC meeting, as the situation might lead to the halt of the Kyiv subway.

According to the press service of the city council, in 2009 the then city authorities signed an agreement on the purchase of 100 subway wagons on the terms of financial leasing with Ukrrosleasing. In the period from 2010 to 2013 Kyiv owed this enterprise almost UAH 2 billion. The court under the lawsuit of this company arrested 100 wagons of the Kyiv metro. And recently, according to the court ruling, the executive service has arrested the accounts of municipal enterprise Kyiv Metropoliten.

"A threatening situation has developed with the debt of Kyiv Metropoliten, whose accounts, as you know, have been arrested under the court ruling. And this is a direct threat to the work of the Kyiv underground. That is: we are forced to pay old debts that someone owes! This question is very important for the city, because every day 1.5 million people in Kyiv use the subway. Therefore we should not allow the stop of the most popular public transport," Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.
