Naftogaz announces third round of prequalifications for gas sellers using EBRD funds
National joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy on March 17 announced the third round of prequalifications for companies to participate in natural gas procurement procedures to be held in the period from May 15, 2017 through January 20, 2018 using the proceeds of trade finance loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
According to a report on the EBRD's website, the bidders are to send their documents before April 18, 2017.
As reported, in 2015, Naftogaz received a $300 million revolving loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to purchase gas from European suppliers.
From December 2015 through March 2016 as part of the first round of the loan Naftogaz bought 1.7 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas from five suppliers.
In August-October 2016 the company bought 1.8 bcm of gas from Axpo Trading AG, CEZ, a.s., Engie SA, Eni Trading & Shipping S.p.A., RWE Supply & Trading GmbH and Uniper Global Commodities SE as part of the second round.
