Poroshenko hopes new $1 bln from IMF will arrive in March
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko expects that Ukraine will receive a new disbursement from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the amount of $1 billion after a decision by the IMF Executive Board expected in March.
"As I was promised by Christine Lagarde, the Managing Director of the IMF, we will receive $1 billion, and I hope it will happen as soon as in March," he said in an interview with Ukrainian television channels on Wednesday.
According to the president, he is proud that the current government has managed to ensure the receipt of the fourth disbursement from the IMF.
He said that all the funds received from the IMF are stored as the country's gold and forex reserves, which amount to almost $16 billion as of today.
"We have fulfilled all the agreements to reform the economy, the public sphere, the energy sector, and therefore the IMF tranche, and this is a strong signal for investors, is a strong signal for Ukraine," he added.
