Union of journalists urges not to sharply increase tariffs by Ukrposhta

The national union of journalists of Ukraine condemns steps of Ukrainian state enterprise of postal services Ukrposhta regarding the sharp increase of tariffs for delivery of subscribed periodicals and urges not to allow the approval of the tariffs.

"The national union of journalists of Ukraine condemns non-partner steps of Ukrposhta which is lobbying for the sharp increase of the tariffs for delivery of subscribed periodicals and urges not to approve the order [to increase the tariffs]," the press service of the union said on Tuesday.

The union said that the draft document was published on the website of Ukraine's Infrastructure Ministry. The discussion of the document will last until April 3, 2017.

First Secretary of the union Serhiy Tomilenko said that the union opposes the increase of the tariffs, especially in the light of the non-return of funds for subscription to newspapers and the low quality of services.

"We are starting a poll of editors and newspaper owners who will present arguments and their discontent with the tariffs and low quality of postal services," Tomilenko said.
