Ukraine sees 0.5% rise in gas production in Jan-Feb 2017

Natural gas production in Ukraine in January and February 2017 tentatively grew by 0.5% or 17.8 million cubic meters year-over-year, to 3.358 billion cubic meters (bcm), Ukrtransgaz has reported.

Ukrgazvydobuvannia produced 2.408 bcm of gas in January-February 2017 (1.1% down year-over-year), Ukrnafta – 205.5 million cubic meters (mcm, 6.4% down) and other companies – 744.8 mcm (8.4% up).

In February alone, gas production was 1.596 bcm (1% down on February 2016), including 1.146 bcm by Ukrgazvydobuvannia, 96.2 mcm by Ukrnafta and 353.7 mcm by other companies.

As reported, natural gas production in Ukraine in 2016 grew by 0.5%, or 91.1 mcm, year-over-year, to 19.987 bcm.

Naftogaz Ukrainy's enterprises reduced gas output by 0.8%, or 131.8 mcm, to 15.9 bcm. In particular, Ukrgazvydobuvannia produced 14.603 bcm of gas (a 0.5% rise), and Ukrnafta's output was 1.298 bcm (a 13.7% decline).

Other producers boosted gas output by 5.8%, or 222.9 mcm, to 4.087 bcm in 2016.

Ukrtransgaz, 100% owned by Naftogaz Ukrainy, operates a system of trunk gas pipelines and 12 underground gas storage facilities in the country.
