Housing, utilities subsidies 31% up in Jan 2017

The total amount of subsidies paid to families for housing and utility services in Ukraine amounted to UAH 920.2 million in January 2017, which is UAH 280 million, or 31% up year-over-year, the State Statistics Service has reported.

According to the report, the figure for January-November 2015 does not include the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, and part of the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone. Data on Donetsk and Luhansk region may be adjusted.

According to the statistics service, in January 2017 subsidies were allocated to 604,900 families. This is 126.4% of the total number of families that applied to receive subsidies and this is 13.4% up year-over-year. Some 35.4% of families received subsidies in January are single person families.

The average size of a grant subsidizing housing payments and utilities services for one family in January 2017 increased by 15.3% year-over-year, to UAH 1,520.

As reported, the total amount of subsidies paid to families for housing and utility services in Ukraine amounted to UAH 5.705 billion in 2016, which is UAH 3.359 billion, or 2.4 times up year-over-year.
