There is no need for monetizing government bonds from PrivatBank capital

At present there is no need for monetization of government domestic loan bonds, by which PrivatBank (Dnipro) will be additionally capitalized, Deputy Head of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Dmytro Solohub has stated.

"At present, when the bank's activities are stable, as well as taking into account the words of the president that deposits in the bank are guaranteed by the state, we see no need for monetization [of government domestic loan bonds]," he told reporters after a press conference in Kyiv.

Solohub said if the securities are not monetized, the bank additional capitalization is unlikely to greatly affect the hryvnia exchange rate and in general the macro stable situation in the country.

"As the PrivatBank capital is replenished with securities, these funds do not go to the foreign exchange and other financial markets. That is, in this situation we do not see any impact on the macro-economic indicators," the banker said.

In addition, Solohub drew attention to the fact that simultaneously with PrivatBank recapitalization, the process of restructuring its loans to related parties will be conducted.
