Ukraine's trade rep announces start of industrial dialogue with EU in 2017

Ukraine will launch a dialogue with the European Union in 2017 to promote the development of the country's industry, Deputy Minister of Economic Development - Trade Representative of Ukraine Natalia Mykolska has said.

"In 2017, we started the industrial dialogue with the European Commission to stimulate the Ukrainian industry," she wrote on her Twitter account after speaking at the German-Ukrainian Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Kyiv on December 13.

Mykolska also expressed the hope that the European Parliament approves the granting of trade preferences to Ukraine to promote Ukrainian exports.

The trade representative also pointed out that Germany is the second country, whose potential as a trade partner of Ukraine has been fully realized, she said. "Next year, Ukraine's Export Promotion Office will focus on trade with Germany," Mykolska said.

As reported, the EU criticized Ukraine's decision to ban export of round timber, refusing to provide EUR 600 million in the second tranche of macro-financial assistance until the decision on round timber export is revised.
