Henichesk does not receive gas from Crimea, town has enough own gas

National joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy has said that no gas comes from Crimea occupied by Russia to Henichesk in Kherson region and the town has enough own gas to cover its current needs.

"Daily gas production at the Strilkove gas field is enough to cover the current needs of Henichesk. We do not receive gas from the occupied Crimea," Naftogaz said on Facebook.

"The contrary statements are untrue. It is not the first time. Do not buy into that," the company said.

It was reported that at a meeting in Yaroslavl on Saturday, where a session of the Russian State Council presidium took place, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed Crimean governor Sergei Aksyonov to ensure gas supplies to the Henichesk town and district in response to an appeal received by the Crimean authorities from Henichesk residents.

Russian authorities later spread information that late on Saturday the Henichesk town and district allegedly started receiving natural gas from Crimea.

Kherson Regional Administration Head Andriy Hordeyev and Head of Henichesk District Administration Oleksandr Vorobiov denied this information. They said that gas produced in the district is enough to cover the needs and problems with gas supplies could appear in theory only if severe frost lasts long.
