Belgium supports visa free regime between Ukraine, EU

Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs Didier Reynders have discussed the prospect of introducing visa free regime between Ukraine and the European Union in Brussels.

"The sides discussed the introduction of visa free regime between Ukraine and the EU. Mr. Reynders confirmed that Ukraine has implemented absolutely all requirements of the visa liberalization action plan. Belgium is ready to support the positive decision for Ukraine. This will happen as soon as the three European institutions settle the mechanism for possible suspension of the visa free regime for third countries," the press service of the Ukrainian deputy prime minister said after the meeting.

The sides also welcomed stirring up political dialog between Ukraine and Belgium, including between parliaments, mutually beneficial cooperation of the two countries as part of international organizations, restoration of the upward pace in trade and economic relations and a large potential of cooperation in culture.

Klympush-Tsintsadze and Reynders paid attention to the situation on the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and the state of the implementation of Minsk agreements. The Ukrainian deputy prime minister expressed gratitude to Belgium for becoming the co-author of the UN resolution on violations of human rights in Crimea annexed by Russia.
