ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih pays over UAH 72 mln fine for damage to environment

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih has paid over UAH 72 million of losses caused to the state in violation of environment protection legislation as it has been prescribed by court.

The company said in a press release on Wednesday, the company executed the ruling of Dnipropetrovsk business court of appeals ordering to pay UAH 72.699 million as collection of damage caused to the state in violation of environment protection legislation.

"The ruling of the appeal court took effect, and today ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih voluntarily paid the sum, not waiting for the enforcement procedure," the company said.

Some UAH 21.81 million or 30% of the sum will be sent to the special fund of Ukraine's national budget, UAH 14.54 million or 20% of the sum will be sent to the special fund of the regional budget of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council and UAH 36.35 million or 50% of the sum will be channeled to the special fund of the local budget of Kryvy Rih City Council.

The funds were sent to an account opened in the main department of the State Treasury of Ukraine in Dnipropetrovsk region.

The company continues the modernization program directed to reduction of production activity impact on Kryvy Rih city and Dnipropetrovsk region. ArcelorMittal, the largest foreign investor in Ukraine, calls all concerned parties for non-biased attitude to the activity of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih and fair evaluation of operation of all large industrial companies in Dnipropetrovsk region in all activity fields," the company said.
