NBU revises downwards GDP growth forecast for 2017, 2018

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has revised downwards its forecast for GDP growth in 2017 to 2.5% from 3% and in 2018 – to 3.5% from 4%, the central bank has said in a press release.

"The reduction of the projected pace of GDP growth in these years is linked to the revision of expectations regarding the situation on foreign markets for Ukrainian exporters," the NBU said.

The key driver of economic growth for this period will be large growth of investment activity in the country.

"Resumption of investment demand would have a positive impact on the expansion of the export potential in the future," the NBU said.

GDP growth forecast for 2016 was not changed – 1.1%.

The new macroeconomic forecast of the central bank will be published in its inflation report on November 3.
