MP Taruta expects dismissal of chief banker Gontareva after appointment of NBU Council members

Member of Parliament Serhiy Taruta says he welcomes the recent appointment by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko of his representatives as members of the Council of the National Bank of Ukraine, however, he expects there will be a decision on the dismissal of NBU Governor Valeriya Gontareva as well.

"I'm glad that President Poroshenko has taken my open letter into consideration. After more than a year's break, the president has appointed his representatives to the NBU Council today. I hope President Poroshenko's next step will be the fulfillment of my major demand - the dismissal of NBU head Valeriya Gontareva," Taruta said on Monday in an interview to journalists.

As was reported, Poroshenko on October 24 appointed former Economy Minister Bohdan Danylyshyn and President of Kyiv Institute of Banking Vasyl Furman as members of the NBU Council.

"1. To appoint Bohdan Danylyshyn for the period of seven years and Vasyl Furman for the period of six years as members of the Council of the National Bank of Ukraine," the president said in decree No. 470/2016 published on Monday on the presidential website.
