International organizations ship 86% of drugs bought with budget funds to Ukraine

International organizations - UNICEF, UNDP and the British procurement agency Crown Agents - have supplied Ukraine with 86.43% of medicines purchased with funds of the national budget in 2015.

UNICEF alone delivered 69.78% of the medicines, UNDP 98.87%, and Crown Agents 70.24%, the Ukrainian Finance Ministry said.

As of September 28, all the medicines ordered under a program for children's hemophilia had been supplied by UNDP, with 99.59% of them already brought to the regions, the ministry said.

A program for children's hepatitis drugs was fulfilled by UNDP by 99.96%, with 99.74% of the bought drugs already delivered to the regions.

In addition, 99.93% of HIV tests have been shipped by UNDP, 95.29% of the tests have been delivered to the regions.

The lowest rates are recorded in the supply of medicines for adult hepatitis. UNDP has shipped 66.83% of the planned drugs. The vaccine delivery target (UNDP, UNICEF) was met by 67.98% with 59.96% delivered to the regions. Crown Agents supplied 68.88% of children's oncology medicines to be bought for the budget funds, 65.44% of them have already sent to the regions.

As reported earlier, the Health Ministry in 2015 hired three international organizations, UNICEF, UNDP, and Crown Agents, to procure medicines under 12 state-funded programs to the tune of over UAH 2.197 billion.
