Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has approved a procedure for transporting spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste from Ukrainian nuclear power plants (NPPS) across the state borders.

The decision was made at a government meeting on Tuesday.

"The draft has been drawn up by the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry. It is intended to ensure measures to implement Ukraine's liabilities regarding treatment of spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste," First Deputy Energy and Coal Industry Minister Halyna Karp said at the meeting.

The decision was taken with the condition of consent by the government's office for European and Euro-Atlantic integration and Ukraine's Finance Ministry.
