Statistics service improves forecast for Ukraine's GDP growth in Q2, 2016 to 1.4%

Ukraine's real gross domestic product (GDP) in the second quarter of 2016 increased by 1.4% compared to the second quarter of 2015.

These data were posted by the State Statistics Service, which originally evaluated the figure at 1.3% in mid-August.

The service retained the estimate for the GDP growth in the second quarter of 2016, taking into account the seasonal factor to the previous quarter, at 0.6%, while the decline of 0.7% was recorded in the first quarter.

According to the report, the country's nominal GDP in April-June amounted to UAH 531.8 billion, the change in deflator to 15.2%, whereas in January-March the figure was UAH 453.2 billion with deflator being 20.5%.

GDP per capita in the second quarter of this year was equal to UAH 12,453, while in the first quarter the figure was UAH 10,605, in the second quarter of 2015 some UAH 10,618.

As reported, Ukraine's real GDP in the second quarter of 2016 increased by 1.3% compared to the second quarter of 2015, whereas in the first quarter of this year the figure was a mere 0.1%. According to the Economic Ministry, the GDP growth in January-July this year was 0.7%.
