Naftogaz confirms there were no gas imports in Q2, 2016

Naftogaz Ukrainy in April-June 2016 did not import natural gas to the country, the press service of the state holding has said.

The holding confirmed it had resumed gas purchases from European suppliers at the expense of own funds in July 2016.

As reported, Naftogaz Ukrainy in the first quarter of 2016 imported natural gas to Ukraine at a price of $198 per 1,000 cubic meters compared with $228 and $ 266 per 1,000 cubic meters respectively in the fourth and third quarters of 2015.

In January-March 2016 Naftogaz bought 2.01 billion cubic meters of gas in Europe, completely abandoning its purchases in Russia. In the previous quarter Naftogaz bought 3.03 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas, in particular from Russia 2.39 bcm, and in the third quarter of 2015 gas purchases totaled 2.36 billion cubic meters, it was also purchased only in Europe.

Ukraine in June 2016 imported 19.7 million cubic meters of gas, in May 96.4 million cubic meters, in April 245 million cubic meters. During June and on July 1-14 gas imports to Ukraine through Slovakia was around 500,000 cubic meters, on July 15 some 2.1 million cubic meters, on July 16-17 some 8.8 million cubic meters, July 18 some 7.8 million cubic meters, July 19 some 11.8 million cubic meters, July 20 some 12.9 million cubic meters, July 21 some 18.2 million cubic meters, and the application for July 22 is 18.5 million cubic meters.
