Naftogaz Ukrainy on June 30 sent a letter to Gazprom, proposing to sign an addendum to the 2009 natural gas supply contract, stipulating details of possible shipments in the third quarter of 2016, the state holding company's CEO Andriy Kobolev said on the Channel 5 television on Thursday, June 30, evening.

The real price for the gas offered by Gazprom to Ukraine for the third quarter, considering its higher calorific value, will be $172-175 per 1,000 cubic meters, he said.

"The formula laid down in Ms. [Yulia] Tymoshenko's contract also involves a calorific-value adjustment. And the real price of this gas, I think, will be no less than $172 and possibly $175, depending on what calorific value Gazprom will send us from the eastern border. The contract was built in such a way as to make us unable to control the calorific value, this is a matter for the Russians," Kobolev said.

"This is why we are talking of the price of, I think, around $173, if we are being optimistic," the company chief said.

Earlier, Gazprom chief Alexei Miller said the price for Ukraine according to the 2009 contract formula is $167.57.
