Ex-head of Ukraine's aviation service Antoniuk denied reinstatement

Kyiv's district administrative court has ruled not to satisfy a claim filed by former head of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine Denys Antoniuk, who demanded that his dismissal was illegal and insisted on his reinstatement in office.

Partner of Ante law firm Andriy Guck reported about the court's decision on his Facebook page.

As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers on September 4 dismissed Denys Antoniuk from the post of head of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine, who had held it since March 12, 2014.

An internal investigation into Antoniuk's activity revealed a number of violations and abuse of office. In particular, a new order issued by the State Aviation Service on the rules of assignment of flight routes, which triggered a number of discussions and disputes on the aviation market, was deemed as restricting competition and providing benefits to certain air carriers.

However, neither Antoniuk nor his deputy Mykola Melnychenko introduced the changes to the document. It was established that it was the service's commission for flight assignment that worked with violations.

The Cabinet of Ministers at a meeting on March 23 decided to appoint Oleksandr Bilchuk as head of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine.

The State Aviation Service told Interfax-Ukraine that Bilchuk held the post of head of the airworthiness department in the authority.
