Deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade totals $89.1 mln in Q1 2016

The deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade in goods in January-March 2016 amounted to $89 million, against the surplus of $66 million in January January-March of the previous year, the State Statistics Service has said.

According to its data, exports of goods and services in the first three months of the year decreased by 15.1%, to $9.688 billion, while imports by 9.1%, to $9.777 billion.

Exports of goods in Q1 2016 dipped by 18.5%, to $7.719 billion, and imports of goods – by 9.3%, to $8.68 billion.

Exports of services decreased by 1.5%, to $2.211 billion and imports – by 8.8%, to $1.099 billion.

The authority said that exports to the CIS dropped by 21.7%, to $1.9 billion, and other countries – by 13.3%, to $7.788 billion, including the EU countries – by 3.2%, to $3.729 billion.

Imports from the CIS declined by 32.4%, to $1.826 billion, from other countries – 1.3%, to $7.951 billion, including the EU states – by 2.4%, to $4.341 billion.

The surplus of Ukraine's foreign trade in 2015 reached $4.06 billion, and it was $710 million or 21.1% up on 2014. Exports decreased by 27.2%, to $46.65 billion and imports – by 29.9%, to $42.58 billion.
