Yatseniuk: it is unlawful to accrue gas payments using six cubic meter consumption standard

Gas supply companies cannot accrue payments for gas using the six cubic meter consumption standard for households. The 4.4 cubic meter standard for gas stoves without gas meters must be used, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said at a government meeting on Wednesday.

"I propose making a decision and setting the 4.4 cubic meter standard calculated by the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry and the National Commission of Ukraine for Energy, Housing and Utilities Services Regulation. It is not 6 cubic meters used by gas supply companies now. The resolution is to be urgently signed and published. I address gas supply companies: the decision to accrue payments for 6 cubic meters violates the cabinet resolution, which we have already approved. This is unlawful. I demand to urgently recalculate the receipts and return the money to people," he said.

Yatseniuk said that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on April 29, 2015 halved the gas consumption standards for households without gas meters (to 3 cubic meters for citizens who have only a gas stove). This is outlined in cabinet resolution No. 237. Ukraine's higher administrative court revoked the cabinet resolution.
