Ukrinterenergo informs Inter RAO subsidiary on impossibility of applying penalties due to termination of electricity supply to Crimea

State enterprise Ukrinterenergo has informed the Center for Payment Settlement (TsOR, the counterparty for electricity supply to Crimea, a subsidiary of Russia's OJSC Inter RAO) on the impossibility of applying penalties due to the termination of electricity supplies to Crimea, according to the website of Ukraine's Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry.

"Ukrinterenergo on November 23 received a letter from TsOR that demanded giving explanations about the limitation and a further termination of electricity supplies, which indicates the possibility of applying penalties in case of non-fulfilling the terms of the contract. Ukrinterenergo provided an official response on the situation. According to the contract, namely point 7.1, the supply of electricity can be reduced or discontinued if power grids are damaged," reads a statement.

Ukrinterenergo also sent confirmation from Ukrenergo on the damage to Crimean power lines to TsOR.

"Under the contract, the limitation and termination of electricity supplies are not within the responsibility of Ukrinterenergo and the enterprise cannot be applied penalties," the Ukrainian state enterprise summarized.
