NBU would stick to flexible exchange rate policy in next five years

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) would stick to the flexible exchange rate policy in the next five years, NBU Governor Valeriya Gontareva said in a report during the lecture course "Ukraine: An insider’s view on macroeconomics, central banking, and monetary policy" organized in Kyiv by VoxUkraine, the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE) and NBU on November 28 and November 29.

"People often confuse free convertibility of the hryvnia and the flexible exchange rate. We have the flexible exchange rate. We do not have freely convertible currency. I would say that I do not see hard currency for the next five years. I see the competent and liberal currency regulation and our flexible exchange rate," she said.

As reported, NBU in decree No. 581 of September 3 expanded anti-crisis measures imposed in 2014-2015 for three more months – until December 4, 2015.
