President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister of Vietnam Nguyen Tan Dung have discussed in Paris the intensification of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

"The two sides discussed joint activities aimed at strengthening the political dialogue and deepening the trade and economic relations between Ukraine and Vietnam. In particular, they spoke on how to better use the potential of both countries to increase the volume of trade and investment. The sides agreed to hold the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic and research and technical cooperation in Kyiv in 2016," the press service of the Ukrainian president reported.

Poroshenko and Dung also discussed topical issues of cooperation between Ukraine and Vietnam in the international arena, particularly in the context of Ukraine's non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council.

The prime minister of Vietnam expressed the support of Ukraine's aspirations to join the Asia-Europe Forum. The Ukrainian leader paid special attention to the importance of expanding a pro-Ukrainian coalition among the countries of Southeast Asia.

Poroshenko also extended an invitation to President of Vietnam Truong Tan Sang to visit Ukraine. "I am convinced that this visit would give the necessary impetus to the further development of the comprehensive cooperation and partnership between the two countries," he stressed.

In turn, Dung invited the Ukrainian president to visit Vietnam.
