Ukraine harvests 57.1 mln tonnes of grain by Nov 6

As of November 6 Ukraine had threshed grain and leguminous crops on 14.1 million hectares, or 96% of the projected area, and harvested 57.1 million tonnes of grain.

According to a posting on the website of the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry, the yield was 40.6 centners per ha (42.1 ha in 2014).

The largest grain volumes were registered in Poltava (4.6 million tonnes), Kharkiv (4.3 million tonnes), Dnipropetrovsk (3.9 million tonnes), Vinnytsia (3.7 million tonnes), Odesa (3.5 million tonnes), Cherkasy (3.4 million tonnes), Kirovohrad (3.2 million tonnes), Sumy (3 million tonnes), Mykolaiv (2.9 million tonnes), Chernihiv and Khmelnytsky (2.8 million tonnes each), Zaporizhia and Kherson (2.7 million tonnes each) and Kyiv (2.6 million tonnes) regions.

Harvesting of late crops, particularly, corn for grain, soybeans, sunflower seeds and sugar beets continues.

Corn for grain, with the forecast being 4.1 million hectares, has been threshed on 3.5 million hectares, or 86% of the projected area, and the harvest was 19.3 million tonnes with the average yield being 54.3 centners per ha (57 centners per ha in 2014).

Buckwheat, with the forecast being 125,000 hectares, has been threshed on 124,000 hectares, or 99% of the projected area, the harvest was 141,000 tonnes with the average yield being 11.4 centners per ha.

Millet, with the forecast being 106,000 hectares, has been threshed on 105,000 hectares, or 99.8% of the projected area, the harvest was 210,000 tonnes with the average yield being 20 centners per ha.

In addition, soybeans, with the forecast being 2.1 million hectares, has been threshed on 2.06 million hectares, or 96% of the projected area, the harvest was 3.6 million tonnes with the average yield being 17.5 centners per ha (21.2 centners per ha in 2014).

Sunflower, with the forecast being 5 million hectares, has been threshed on 4.99 million hectares, or 99% of the projected area, the harvest was 10.8 million tonnes with the average yield being 21.8 centners per ha (19.3 centners per ha in 2014).

Sugar beets, with the forecast being 238,000 hectares, has been threshed on 200,000 hectares, or 84% of the projected area, the harvest was 8.3 million tonnes with the average yield being 416 centners per ha (451 centners per ha in 2014).
