Gazprom in Oct boosts gas exports by 41%, Ukraine cuts rate of consumption

Gazprom in October increased gas exports to non-CIS countries by 41.36%, Ukraine since the beginning of November cut the consumption of Russian gas by almost 67%, Gazprom chief Alexei Miller told journalists.

"For October Gazprom's exports to the non-CIS rose by 41.36% year-on-year. The rate of growth of demand for Russian gas increased 80%. Remember that in July, the growth of demand was 22.4%, in August 23.16% and in September 24.23%," he said.

"At the same time Ukraine since the beginning of November cut its consumption of Russian gas by nearly 67% due to the financial deficit of Naftogaz Ukrainy. Prepaid gas remains for only five days," he said.

Naftogaz Ukrainy planned to buy 2 bcm of gas from Gazprom in October, transferring about $500 million. The company took the maximum amount of gas that was agreed upon in the contract, at 114 million cubic meters of gas a day.
