Fall in industrial production in Ukraine slows to 5.1% in Sept

The fall in industrial production in Ukraine in September 2015 compared to the same month in 2014, due to the effect of comparative base, slowed down to 5.1% against 5.8% in August, 13.4% in July, and 18.1% in June, the State Statistics Service has reported.

According to its data, in relation to August this year industrial production in September increased by 5.9%, while in the first nine months of the year its fall from the same period last year slowed down to 16.6% against 18% in the first eight months of the year.

The service said that this data does not include data from the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone. In addition, as in the previous quarters of 2014 and the first months of 2015, the figure is given without regard to the occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.

Industrial production in Donetsk region in September increased by 16.9%, while in August the fall was 4%, in July 36%, in June 46.6%, and in Luhansk region a growth of 13% was recorded after rising by 41% in August and falling by 59% in July and 78% in June. This is due to the fact that in August-September 2014 due to the escalation of fighting a large part of industrial enterprises in these areas saw their production fall.

As for other regions, if in August 2015 seven regions managed to achieve growth in industry, then in September their number reduced to five.

Apart from Luhansk and Donetsk region, the service recorded a positive figure in Lviv (3.3%), Kherson (6.8%), and Chernivtsi regions (7.4%).
