Cabinet asks IMF to postpone launch of technical mission for customs issues – official

The Cabinet of Ministers has asked the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to postpone the launch of the technical mission for customs issues in Ukraine, Deputy Head of the Fiscal Service of Ukraine Kostiantyn Likarchuk, who is responsible for customs issues, wrote on his Facebook page.

"The day before yesterday the Ukrainian government officially asked the IMF to postpone the start of work of the technical mission for customs issue, which was to start working in September, without a date – once in 2016," he said.

"Obviously, this was made to finish the destruction of the customs agency, not to allow IMF experts to study everything on the site and invite them to the service in flames… This only again confirms that I've been saying for several months: Nasirov [Head of the State Fiscal Service Roman Nasirov] is not interested in a real and professional reform of the customs service. All references to the IMF are bluffs, or why the mission for customs issue should be postponed without a date? Why not allow profile experts from the IMF to study the situation on site and make professional recommendations," Likarchuk said.

"I believe that the real plan is to destroy the customs service, discredit it more than Klimenko did and sit on flows in the shadows… And this is under the guise of the IMF… How much can we bear these manipulations? How much will the IMF close the eyes on this deception?" he said.
