Gas transit via Ukrainian GTS exceeds 237 mcm a day on July 28 – Ukrtransgaz

Transit of natural gas via the Ukrainian gas transport system (GTS) totaled 237.8 million cubic meters (mcm) a day on July 28, which is 65.6% up on July 28, 2014 (143.6 mcm), the press service of public joint-stock company Ukrtransgaz reported on Wednesday.

The press service said that from July 1 to July 28 6.137 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas was supplied via the Ukrainian GTS for the needs of European consumers, which is 28.8% up year-over-year (4.764 bcm).

Head of the public relations department at Ukrtransgaz, Maksym Beliavsky, told Interfax-Ukraine that the application for gas transit via Ukraine for July 29 amounts to 237.7 mcm.

As reported, in January-June 2015 Ukraine cut natural gas transit to Europe and Moldova by 21.4% year-over-year, to 28.727 bcm.

Gas transit through Ukraine in 2014 fell 27.8%, to 62.197 billion cubic meters and was down 31.4% in Q1, 2015 year-on-year, to 12.765 billion cubic meters.

Ukrtransgaz, which is wholly owned by Naftogaz Ukrainy, operates Ukraine's trunk gas pipeline system and its 12 underground storage facilities.
