Ukraine proposes that Belarus develops production on parity conditions – official

Goods which Belarus wants to supply to Ukraine are able to be partially produced in Ukraine, Deputy Prime Minister and Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Economy Minister of Ukraine Hennadiy Zubko has said.

He said that Belarusian partners want to supply trucks, tractors and other agricultural machinery to Ukraine. The Ukrainian proposal is that a part of the equipment should be assembled and made in Ukraine

"This approach is not only beneficial for Ukraine which would receive investment, jobs and taxes. This is the window of opportunities for Belarusians who would receive a chance of looking for new markets, access to which is closed for them, after the DCFTA [Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area] agreement between Ukraine and the EU takes effect," the press service of the ministry reported, citing Zubko.

He said that Ukraine has concrete proposals on cooperation.

"Ukraine has Pivdenny Machine-Building Plant which has an industrial, engineer and resource potential for the realization of similar projects. If the agreements were reached, this could be the start of a long-term and mutually beneficial partnership," Zubko said.

He said that Ukraine is ready to develop production of goods that Belarus requires.

"We're interested in the Baltic-Black Sea transport corridor. We see a large potential for cooperation in agriculture, agricultural products processing, engineering, energy areas and joint logistics projects," he said.

He said that the principles of cooperation and uniting capitals could be used not only in bilateral trade relations, but also in cooperation with third countries.
