President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has insisted on the development and adoption as soon as possible of a transparent and understandable concept of economic reforms aimed at the sustainable and long-term improvement of the economic situation in the country by ensuring a high level of economic freedoms and improving the investment climate.

The presidential press service said Poroshenko at a meeting of the National Reforms Council on the issue of economic strategy set the task "to find not the easiest but the most correct economic prescription."

"The main goal of economic policy is to improve the quality of life of Ukrainian citizens in a stable, long-term prospect. This requires a high and sustainable economic growth. And to ensure this growth, we should provide a high level of economic freedom, the effective and attractive investment climate," the president said.

The president stressed that this way of augmenting the national wealth would move us closer to the time when the state authorities will be able to implement an effective social policy, steadily raise the living standards of Ukrainians for a long time but not just before the next elections.
