A total of $ 1.2 billion is required to restore infrastructure in the liberated territories of Donbas, Deputy Prime Minister Hennadiy Zubko has said.

"According to all estimates we have done together with the World Bank, the UN and the EU, the amount [of money] reached $1.2 billion. It covers both restoration of the infrastructure and employment, social rehabilitation and possibilities to help with accommodations for temporary refugees... It concerns only the liberated territories," he said at a meeting to discuss the restoration of Donbas, held in Kyiv on Tuesday.

Zubko said the UN had approved raising its aid to $300 million, "but first of all we must count on ourselves."

"We, in the government, are looking for the opportunity to allocated these means from the budget, as well as to attract [the money] directly from various international banks," he said.

As for the occupied territories, Zubko said that first of all the issue of regaining control over the border had to be solved, as well as the withdrawal of Russian troops and the creation of conditions required for the resumption of Ukrainian production.
