WTO arbiters propose that Ukraine revokes special duties on passenger car imports

A panel of arbiters formed by the World Trade Organization (WTO) under Japanese claims against Ukraine due to special safeguards for imports duties on passenger car imports being imposed in 2013 has declared that the major part of the claims are justifiable.

The panel said that they hope that Ukraine will revoke its safeguard measures.

According to a report posted on the WTO's website, the arbiters declared that 10 claims of Japan are justifiable.

However, arbiters backed Kyiv in rejecting six Japanese claims.

The panel recommended that the Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) should ask Ukraine to bring the safeguard measures in line with its liabilities to WTO.
