Atlasjet Ukraine plans to use Kyiv International Airport

Atlasjet Ukraine airline (Lviv) plans to use Kyiv International Airport, Airline Head Serhiy Pidhoretsky said on the sidelines of a meeting of the commission which issues assignments to flights of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine.

He said it is more profitable for the airline to service flights at Kyiv airport compared to Boryspil International Airport (a year ago the company planned to start servicing flights from Borsypil).

Pidhoretsky said that the servicing flights from Zhuliany will be twice cheaper than from Boryspil.

He added that Transaerohandling will provide ground handling services.

The commission of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine approved assignments to six routes for Atlasjet Ukraine at a meeting on Tuesday: Lviv-Moscow, Lviv-Madrid, Odesa-Moscow, Kherson-Istanbul, Zaporizhia-Istanbul and Kyiv-Kutaisi.

Atlasjet Ukraine submitted applications for around 30 routes for the meeting of the commission on Tuesday and UIA – 35 routes. However, the commission head, Mykola Melnychenko said that due to the commission’s meeting being gathered too quickly, and as it was a first meeting of the commission for a long period of time, only routes which do not arouse disputes were discussed by the commission. It was decided to postpone the consideration of assignments for several routes, as other airlines that service flights on them were not informed.

The commission decided to review the rest of the applications at the next meeting scheduled for June 26.
