President of the Landtag of Bavaria (the unicameral Bavarian state parliament) Barbara Stamm will visit Kyiv in autumn, Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk has said.

"President of the Landtag of Bavaria Barbara Stamm is going to come to Kyiv to support Ukraine," Melnyk wrote on his Twitter page.

According to a statement issued by the Landtag on the meeting between Stamm and Melnyk, Stamm promised to stay informed of the situation in Ukraine and to possibly study the situation on site during the visit of an expert delegation.

During the meeting, Melnyk said there were good relations between Bavaria and Ukraine. In particular, nearly 10,000 students from Ukraine are studying in Germany, the majority of them in Bavaria.

"The future of our country is studying here," Melnyk said, adding that this could be noticed particularly well at the Ukrainian Free University in Munich.

Also, Melnyk expressed his gratitude for the huge humanitarian aid given to Ukraine by Germany.
