U.S. raises extra $18 mln for Ukraine to overcome consequences of Donbas crisis – Biden
The United States will grant $18 million to Ukraine to help alleviate the humanitarian catastrophe in Donbas, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden has said.
In a video address to the international conference on support for Ukraine, Biden said that the extra $18 million of humanitarian aid for Ukraine will bring the total amount of humanitarian financial aid granted by the U.S. since the beginning of the conflict in eastern Ukraine to $43 million.
According to Biden, nearly $450 million of aid in general has been already rendered by the United States to Ukraine, plus the one billion dollars of long-term guarantees made last year.
The decision to issue an extra one billion of long-term guarantees will be finally approved in the next few days, in addition to the one billion which will be issued by the end of the year if Ukraine follows its reform program, Biden added.
