Growth of banks' debt to NBU slows to UAH 1 bln in March

The total debt owed under credits issued by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) to banks and the Individuals' Deposit Guarantee Fund grew by UAH 990 million in March 2015, while in February it soared by UAH 8.87 billion.

The NBU said that credits for a period of over 30 calendar days were issued to 15 banks in March. They amounted to UAH 4.17 billion, including UAH 2.12 billion of stabilization credits issued to PrivatBank.

In addition, the NBU issued stabilization credits to Bank Credit Dnepr, Platinum Bank and Bank Finance and Credit worth UAH 357 million, UAH 240 million and UAH 200 million respectively.

In March, the NBU issued credits worth UAH 16.22 billion to banks and the Deposit Guarantee Fund, UAH 15.23 billion was repaid by banks, while in February the figures were UAH 36.03 billion and UAH 27.17 billion respectively.

The NBU did not disclose the total debt on credits as of early April, while a month ago it was UAH 129.27 billion. In January, the growth of banks and the fund's debt to the NBU totaled UAH 1.26 billion or 1.1%, and in January and February 2015 it was UAH 10.12 billion or 8.5%.
