Subsidies per family a year to total some UAH 8,000 - Yatseniuk

The Ukrainian government provides around UAH 8,000 of subsidies a year per family, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said in an interview with Ukrayina TV.

He said that the government expects that 3 million household will receive subsidies – which is 12 million to 15 million citizens.

"This is UAH 8,000 per family a year," the public relations department of the secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has reported.

Yatseniuk also said that the average subsidy per family a month is currently UAH 360.

"We've doubled the sum," he said.

"The government foresees UAH 24.5 billion in the national budget until the end of the year to settle these payments," reads the report.

Yatseniuk said that subsidy assignment takes the following approach: those who have larger incomes pay more and those who have smaller incomes pay less.

He said that he had talked to Social Policy Minister Pavlo Rozenko on the pace of the implementation of the relaxed subsidy issue procedure and the receiving of declarations by citizens for subsidies. Yatseniuk said that Rozenko has visited 13 villages in Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia and Kyiv regions, talked to people in houses, and that the people in those houses have received declarations.

According to general statistics, 90% of households received the documents to obtain subsidies. Yatseniuk said that the subsidies are to be assigned in May, adding that before the heating season declarations will be sent to citizens again.
