Ukrainians interested in buying housing abroad - CDS

The interest of Ukrainians in purchasing residential property abroad to save money and obtain income from leasing is increasing due to the unstable political and economic situation, while the average profitability of such property is 15% per annum and the average cost of a sale and purchase deal is about EUR100,000.

This was announced by the Director of City Development Solutions consulting company (CDS, Kyiv), Yaroslava Chapko, at the fourth Kyiv international exhibition forum "Real Estate Fair."

"This is mainly the Mediterranean region: Turkey, Bulgaria, Cyprus, including North Cyprus, a little bit of Spain, what is traditionally in demand among Ukrainians (for recreation and leisure trips)," she said.

According to Chapko, the current cost of housing in the Mediterranean region which can subsequently be leased starts from EUR50,000, and the average value of a sale and purchase deal is about EUR100,000.

"It's actually investment property because its yield is 2 times higher than the yield of Kyiv apartments – their average yield can be up to 15% per annum," she added.

According to Chapko, in addition to the acquisition of investment property for subsequent lease, this also concerns transactions on property sale and purchase in connection with the opening of businesses abroad by Ukrainian citizens.
