NBU, government to receive equal parts of IMF tranche – Jaresko

The first tranche of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which Ukraine will receive, will be divided into equal parts among the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) and the government, Finance Minister of Ukraine Natalie Jaresko reported.

"A half of whatever the number might be will be spent for enrichment of the NBU reserves, another half will be provided to the government so that it fulfills its foreign liabilities," she told the journalists during the Cabinet of Ministers sitting on Saturday.

Earlier, her first deputy Ihor Umansky had said the government expected a first tranche of $10 billion.

Jaresko said in a comment on this that the government is working for the tranche to be as large as possible.

"Actually, in the first year can't receive more than 60% of the sum total, which is between $10 billion and $11 billion. We've set ourselves the objective of obtaining the largest possible proportion of this money as the first tranche," she said.

Earlier, media reports had predicted that the first tranche would amount to about $5 billion.
