Canada and Israel will finance a project to support Ukrainian small and medium-sized farms which grow fruit and vegetables in Odesa, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions.

"The budget amounts to CAD 19.325 million," Deputy Agricultural Policy and Food Minister for European integration Vladyslava Rutytska said while signing a memorandum on the provision of the funds in Kyiv on Tuesday.

She said that the funds will be provided for seven years by the Canadian MEDA international economic development organization and Israel's Agency for International Development Cooperation MASHAV.

Canadian Ambassador to Ukraine Roman Waschuk said that in the first year 1,000 farms will obtain financing, and a total of 30,000 farms will receive financing by the end of the project.

"Thanks to the project our Ukrainian farmers obtain a chance to introduce modern technologies, market mechanisms, effective marketing and fruit and vegetable logistics system," Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Oleksiy Pavlenko said.
