UIA permitted to fly to Canada

Ukraine International Airlines (UIA, Kyiv) has receive an official notification from the aviation authorities of Canada that the airline has passed the aviation safety audit and received a permit to perform flights to Canadian cities.

The press service of the airline reported that as a part of the realization of the long-haul flight program UIA plans to start performing transatlantic flights on the Kyiv-Toronto (Canada)-Kyiv route in the summer navigation period of 2015.

The procedure for preparing for the flight performance foresees the aviation safety audit by the Transport Ministry of Canada. From December 8 to December 12, 2014, representatives of the Transport Ministry of Canada checked the airlines' documents on aviation safety if they are in line with standards and requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Canadian regulatory documents in the aviation safety area and application of the measures in practice.

The audit was conducted, taking into account the difficult situation in Ukraine.

Director for Aviation Safety at UIA Oleksandr Suvorov said that at present UIA specialists are analyzing the practicability of performing flights to Toronto in the summer navigation period of 2015, and the preparations for the launch of direct regular flights of UIA between Ukraine and Canada are at the final stage.

UIA was founded in 1992. It is the largest Ukrainian airline. The basic airport is Boryspil airport (Kyiv). The UIA fleet consists of 33 aircraft, mainly Boeing 767s.
