NCER, IMF mission representatives discuss revision of household energy tariffs

Kyiv, January 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Acting Head of the National Commission of Ukraine for Energy, Housing and Utilities Services Regulation (NCER) Dmytro Vovk, and member of the commission Yulia Kovaliv, discussed the revision of energy tariffs for households at a meeting with representatives of the mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) last week.

According to a report from the commission's press service, the issues of defining the final retail tariffs for gas and heating for households, rules and procedures for setting energy tariffs for consumers, and the efficiency of energy supply and the transportation system were discussed.

As reported, the Stand-By Arrangement foresaw the next stage of increasing the price of gas and heating for households by 40% from May 2015 and by 20% each in 2016 and 2017. However, experts said that these measures are not enough to improve the financial state of Naftogaz Ukrainy, due to the continuous devaluation of the hryvnia.

Last year gas tariffs for households grew by 56% from May 1, and heating tariffs rose by 40% from July 1.
